Pilots, towage services and traffic managers work closely together to guide your ship and cargo safely and smoothly into the port. In the Scheldt region on the voyage upstream to the port of Antwerp, that nautical chain is a complex one. If everyone makes a conscious effort to communicate information and any changes in good time, all parties will be able to process vessel traffic in the entire port area efficiently and quickly, without additional waiting times.

APICS and Zedis

APICS (Antwerp Port Information and Control System) is the system in which all vessel traffic data in the  Antwerp port area come together. In Zeebrugge, the Port Community System Zedis is used for that purpose.

Based on the information you enter into these applications, all parties involved in the nautical chain are able to draw up an  accurate schedule. To do that effectively, it is very important that everyone should enter the right information in a timely manner. Any changes create a domino effect and causes unnecessarily long waiting times for various port users.
