Inland navigation is the largest mode of transport between Port of Antwerp-Bruges and the European hinterland. To further increase the share of inland navigation, we are continuously working on new projects.
Port of Antwerp-Bruges has excellent infrastructure for all kinds of transport and goods. No other port is more centrally located in Europe.
Together with the competent partners and authorities, we are expanding the transport infrastructure to bring about sustainable cargo transport, and we are convincing actors in the logistics chain of the advantages of sustainable modes of transport.

Rail transport is fast, reliable and suitable for heavy and dangerous cargo. But container transport by rail is also on the rise. Rail transport makes the logistical chain at the port more sustainable and efficient.
Shortsea staat voor het transport van goederen waarbij gebruik wordt gemaakt van kustwateren rond Europa, de Middellandse en de Zwarte Zee. De oceaan wordt bij dit transport niet gekruist. Het is een milieuvriendelijk alternatief en levert een kostenbesparing op in vergelijking met wegtransport.
Port of Antwerp-Bruges is surrounded by international motorways that lead directly to the European hinterland. 60% of the European consumption centres are situated within a 500 kilometre radius.
Estuarine navigation is navigation with reinforced inland navigation craft over a small area of open sea along the coastline, between the estuary of the Western Scheldt and Zeebrugge.
Port of Antwerp-Bruges offers an extensive range of maritime connections to ports around the world. The combination of Zeebrugge's direct coastal location and Antwerp's location 80 kilometres inland provide a fast and sustainable connection to the European hinterland.
Port of Antwerp-Bruges is the most important hub in the Western European pipelines. Pipelines offer the industry a safe, reliable and environmentally friendly means of transport for the supply and distribution of liquid bulk.
