New shortsea connection for Antwerp

Tailwind Shipping Lines added Antwerp to its Dolphin Express Service in October. That shortsea service carries containers between Moerdijk and Barcelona.

Expansion of Dolphin Express Service

Lidl’s shipping company, Tailwind Shipping Lines, extended its Dolphin Express Service in mid-October 2025. On the route from Moerdijk to Barcelona, it now also calls at Antwerp, Setúbal (Portugal), Cádiz (Spain) and Casablanca (Morocco).

The Dolphin Express Service transports containers and departs weekly from Antwerp. The handling is carried out at ACOT Antwerp Container Terminal (Sea-Invest). Three 1,380 TEU vessels are used for this service, carrying both Lidl’s own cargo and goods from third parties. WEC Lines has also signed up for slots on this shortsea service.

Onward connection

The Dolphin Express Service promotes more sustainable transport by supporting the shift from road to sea. This allows your goods to reach southern Europe with a smaller environmental impact. Moerdijk also offers several interesting connections, including a inland navigation connection to Duisburg as an alternative to road transport.

Fast connections to China are possible from Casablanca, Morocco. From Barcelona, Tailwind's Panda Express Service sails to the Far East.
