Shortsea shipping

Port of Antwerp-Bruges offers weekly fixed short sea and feeder services from and to 200 destinations in Europe, North Africa and the United Kingdom. The extensive network of frequent short sea and feeder connections from Antwerp and Zeebrugge ensures rapid transit times. Short sea shipping offers a larger transport capacity than road transport, thereby reducing the costs per unit load. Via Port of Antwerp-Bruges, ships load or unload their short sea cargo closer to the major European centres of consumption and production.

Port of Antwerp-Bruges, and in particular Zeebrugge, is a hub for United Kingdom traffic: every week more than 70 scheduled services connect Antwerp and Zeebrugge with various regions in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This allows us to offer tailor-made solutions for just-in-time provisioning to the British markets.

Inland shipping

Antwerp and Bruges have excellent connections to the extensive European barge network. This ensures short transit times to strategic areas in the European hinterland.

Port of Antwerp-Bruges encourages the modal shift through efforts to increase the number of barge connections and improve efficiency in the chain. Improving barge infrastructure is also high on the agenda.

Road transport

Port of Antwerp-Bruges is surrounded by international motorways that lead directly to the European hinterland. 60% of the European consumption centres are situated within a 500 km radius. Its central location in the heart of Europe makes Port of Antwerp-Bruges a cost-effective choice for getting goods to end customers.

The further expansion of night logistics is one of the solutions for coping with peaks in container transport at terminals and by road. Port of Antwerp-Bruges also encourages the parties in the hinterland to introduce night-time opening and take advantage of the opportunities created in the port area as much as possible.

Truck parking areas are being expanded to include charging facilities for electric trucks, and soon, Zeebrugge will also have a hydrogen fueling station where trucks can refuel with hydrogen.
