Fishing in the Port of Antwerp
Fishing in the Port of Antwerp is only permitted in a zone on the eastern bank of the Kanaaldok B2, from the entrance of the Scheldt–Rhine Canal in the north to the waiting berths of Reigersbos de Zouten in the south.
Fishing
Fishing is permitted at a number of locations in the port area of Antwerp and Zeebrugge. Fishing in the port must always be done from the quay, it is prohibited to fish from a vessel in all areas. All anglers needs a fishing permit from the Flemish Agency for Nature and Forest.
Fishing in the Port of Zeebrugge
Fishing in the Port of Zeebrugge is allowed in the following zones: the western bank of the Boudewijn Canal between the Dudzele bridge and Zwankendamme, on the western sloped bank of the Verbindingsdok, and along Kiwiweg and the container lookout point on Kustlaan.
If you want to fish in public waters in Flanders, you need a fishing permit. Before you go fishing, make sure you are familiar with the rules.
Additional fishing permit for the port of Zeebrugge
Since 1 January 2025, the additional fishing permit for fishing inside the port area in Zeebrugge is free of charge. You can only apply for that fishing permit online. The reception staff at the Zeebrugge offices of Port of Antwerp-Bruges will no longer be issuing any permits in paper form.
You can register for your fishing permit by completing the application form. We will process your application during office hours and your permit will then be sent to you by e-mail. The fishing permit will be valid during the current calendar year.
You must be able to produce the fishing permit at any time, if requested by the police, the Harbourmaster's Office (Port of Antwerp-Bruges) or by authorised supervisory staff. You can do this either in digital format (by showing your smartphone) or on paper (you will need to print out a copy of the permit yourself).
