When and how should I report my inland vessel in the port?

Inland vessels must always be properly reported through Apics Barge or by VHF radio. Reports are mandatory when calling in, calling out, and shifting within the docks.

Calling in

  • when it enters the port;
  • when occupying a berth (mooring);
  • when it is launched.

Shifting

  • when it shifts within the docks;
  • when it navigates from the left to the right bank or vice versa;
  • when it navigates to/from the Scheldt quays/jetties.

Calling out

  • when leaving the berth (unmooring);
  • when leaving the port via a lock;
  • when it takes out of the water.

Changes of destination should also be reported.

Inland vessels leaving the port via the Scheldt-Rhine connecting Canal or via the Albert Canal only have to be notified when unmooring, provided they have been correctly notified and are sending  the required AIS signals.
