When and how should I report my inland vessel in the port?

Inland vessels must always be properly reported through Apics Barge or by VHF radio. Reports are mandatory when registering, reporting in, reporting out, and changing destination.

Reporting in

  • Upon entering the port;
  • When occupying a berth (mooring);
  • When launching the vessel.

Shifting

  • When moving between the docks;
  • When crossing from the left bank to the right bank (or vice versa);
  • When moving to or from the Scheldt docks or jetties.

Reporting out

  • When leaving a berth (casting off);
  • When leaving the harbour via a lock;
  • When removing the vessel from the water.

Likewise, if a ship changes its destination, this must be reported.

Inland vessels leaving the port via the Scheldt-Rhine Canal or the Albert Canal only need to report when casting off, provided that they have been correctly reported and are transmitting the required AIS signals.
