What additional driving licence requirements does the Port Traffic Regulation impose?
The Royal Decree of 23 March 1998 concerning the driving licence remains applicable.
In addition, the port traffic regulation provides for additional driving licence requirements in a limited number of cases.
The principle is that the place where a port vehicle is used, and not the category of port vehicle, determines which additional driving licence requirements apply. Overview:
- Port local roads: all categories of port vehicles: no additional requirements
- Noorderlaan/Scheldelaan: categories A3/B3, A4/B4: no additional requirements unless combination is longer than 25.25 m: 2 years of experience driving licence C+E and no expiry of the right to drive 1 year prior to transport
- Main roads: category A4/B4: no additional requirements unless combination is longer than 18.75 m: certificate of competence LZV, 5 years of experience driving licence C+E and no expiry of the right to drive 1 year prior to transport.
