As a terminal and inland navigation operator in Port of Antwerp-Bruges, you will be offered the possibility to monitor the position data of inland navigation vessels at any time. You can do so through the web application Barge Traffic System.

As terminal operators, you can view the location of any registered inland navigation vessel. As an inland navigation operator, you only have access to the position data of your own vessels.

How does it work?

The Port Authority receives the location data of inland navigation vessels through various channels and displays it on the interactive map in the web application Barge Traffic System. This applies to a number of strategic transit points in Flanders and the Netherlands.

What are the benefits?

  • Flexible scheduling: both the terminal operator and the inland navigation vessel can adjust the schedule.
  • More accurate arrival times: up-to-date information allows you to better estimate arrivals.
  • Optimised cruising speed: as an inland navigation operator, you can fine-tune your cruising speed.
