Port of Antwerp-Bruges present at NYC Climate Week

Port of Antwerp-Bruges attended New York Climate Week, the largest annual climate event in the Americas, from 17 to 24 September 2023. CEO Jacques Vandermeiren accompanied Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, among others, to promote Belgium as Europe's green hub. Port of Antwerp-Bruges is the perfect example of those ambitions. The Port Authority is already working hard to fulfil its ambition as the gateway for green molecules to Europe.

Major trading partner

In 2022, the port traded as much as 27.6 million tons of goods with the United States. It is a testament to the strong transatlantic collaboration between the world's largest economy and the progressive European port. A collaboration that will only become more important in the current geopolitical climate.

American investors

The agenda also included a visit to the three American investors in NextGen District, the new incubator for the circular economy in Antwerp. These include Plug (who will build a hydrogen plant), PureCycle (who will give plastics and polymers a second life) and Bolder (who will recycle car tyres).
