Terminal Mošnov welcomes its first trains

On 18 October, the new rail container terminal in Mošnov opened its doors for business. Mošnov is a strategic industrial zone near the city of Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Rail terminal officially opened

To support the development of the intermodal terminal, the Moravian-Silesian Region, the Statutory City of Ostrava, the Railway Administration Authority (SŽDC), Concens Investments and Port of Antwerp-Bruges signed a Memorandum of Understanding in October 2019. Now, three years later, this new rail terminal is officially open for business. The rail terminal is operated by Innofreight, Medlog, Budamar Logistics and ČD Cargo.

Strategically located terminal creates opportunities

The new container terminal is strategically placed on the TEN-T corridor and is unique in Central & Eastern Europe because of the combination of terminal and warehouse capacities next to each other. From the start, Port of Antwerp-Bruges saw the construction of the terminal as an excellent opportunity to develop new business, both for inbound and outbound flows, to and from Central & Eastern Europe.

Today, we can already see the important role played by inland intermodal hubs in the entire supply chain, especially in the Central & Eastern Europe region. This initiative should create new capacity and room for future business opportunities, not only locally, but also for stakeholders in transport and logistics from abroad.
