For this reason, POAB wishes to develop Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the Port of Antwerp, which will play a crucial role in the stability of the electricity grid. POAB is therefore seeking a strategic and financial partner for a new Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), with a participation of up to 49%, to jointly realize this sustainable energy infrastructure on two sites in the port.

Who is this survey intended for?

POAB invites investors and operators with demonstrable expertise and measurable expertise in large-scale energy projects. To be considered as a partner, you must have the following:

At least one operational battery storage system that is already connected to the Elia transmission grid.
Or a confirmed commitment for future BESS installations on the Elia grid, evidenced by a final investment decision (FID) and/or a signed connection contract.

POAB is making two sites available through a domain concession for the SPV to be established:

Site 1: NextGen District (Right Bank)

Location: Situated in the NextGen District, within a 200-meter radius of the new Elia substation Churchilldok.
Area: Site of approximately 10,000m², a portion of which will be reserved for the construction and operation of a substation for distribution system operator Fluvius.
Capacity: Estimated storage capacity of 100 MW - 400 MWh.

Site 2: Hazopweg (Left Bank)

Location: Situated on the left bank, opposite the intersection of Hazopweg and Land van Waasland to Beveren-Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht.
Area: Site of approximately 6,626m².
Capacity: Estimated storage capacity of 35 MW - 140 MWh
