Port projects and works: how we strengthen our port

Port of Antwerp-Bruges develops and oversees a wide range of construction and renovation projects across the port area. Through these works, we enhance the reliability, safety and capacity of the port infrastructure, ensuring that all users — from logistics operators to industry and shipping — can continue to operate smoothly and efficiently.

Our port operates 24/7, but infrastructure does not have an unlimited lifespan. Steel bridges can corrode due to salt exposure and weather conditions, quay walls may require structural reinforcement after years of intensive use, and roads are subject to wear caused by heavy freight traffic. That is why we continuously invest in renovation, repair and maintenance. At the same time, the needs of our concession holders evolve: larger vessels require wider or deeper quays, modern terminals rely on high-performance facilities, and the shift towards sustainable energy demands new infrastructure. Through targeted projects, we respond to these developments, ensuring that the port remains competitive and future-proof, and is prepared for potential future port expansion.

Works and construction activities may occasionally cause limited inconvenience, such as diversions or noise. Through this website, we keep you informed in a timely and transparent manner. This way, you know exactly what is happening, why it is necessary and what impact you can expect.
