New shortsea connections from Port of Antwerp-Bruges

The Dolphin Express Service from Tailwind Shipping Lines and the Atlas Service from DP World Logistics are now offering new shortsea connections from Antwerp, to Barcelona or Morocco. The Irish Sea Express is also now calling in Zeebrugge.

Dolphin Express to Barcelona from Antwerp

Lidl’s shipping company, Tailwind Shipping Lines, extended its Dolphin Express Service in mid-October 2025. On the route from Moerdijk to Barcelona, it now also calls at Antwerp, Setúbal (Portugal), Cádiz (Spain) and Casablanca (Morocco).

The Dolphin Express Service transports containers and departs weekly from Antwerp. The handling is carried out at ACOT Antwerp Container Terminal (Sea-Invest). Three 1,380 TEU vessels are used for this service, carrying both Lidl’s own cargo and goods from third parties. WEC Lines has also signed up for slots on this shortsea service.

Onward connection

The Dolphin Express Service promotes more sustainable transport by supporting the shift from road to sea. This allows your goods to reach southern Europe with a smaller environmental impact. Moerdijk also offers several interesting connections, including a inland navigation connection to Duisburg as an alternative to road transport.

Fast connections to China are possible from Casablanca, Morocco. From Barcelona, Tailwind's Panda Express Service sails to the Far East.

Atlas Service to Morocco from Antwerp

DP World Logistics and its subsidiary Unifeeder launched the Atlas Service in November 2025. This is a new shortsea connection between Antwerp and Morocco. The services departs once a week in Antwerp from the Antwerp Gateway Terminal (DP World) and also calls at the London Gateway Terminal (DP World) in the United Kingdom. In Morocco, the ship stops in Agadir and Casablanca. There is space for reefer containers on board.

Faster, more sustainable and more cost efficient

The Atlas Service is two days faster in reaching London and Antwerp than road transport, which encounters many border crossings and road congestion. This shortsea connection therefore yearly takes 150,000 tons of perishables (mainly fruit and vegetables) off the road and by sea. As such, the refrigerated transport from Morocco to the UK and the EU is done in a sustainable, fast and cost-efficient manner.

Irish Sea Express also now stops in Zeebrugge

CMA CGM Shortsea Line added Zeebrugge to its existing Irish Sea Express in July 2025. This also now travels in a loop stopping at Antwerp, Zeebrugge, Dunkirk, Liverpool, Dublin, Belfast and Greenock (Scotland). The service sails once a week and transports containers. In Zeebrugge, the ship halts at the CSP Terminal Zeebrugge. There, the feeder services hook into the new deepsea service from CMA CGM, the Victory Bridge Service, to Central America.
