Why?
With a total floor area of 8,000m², the new Antwerp Coordination Center will replace the current coordination centre at the Zandvliet-Berendrecht lock. It aims to make the nautical chain run more smoothly by bringing all the key partners in the nautical chain together in one place.
The energy-neutral building emits no CO2 and meets the most stringent requirements in terms of ergonomics, circularity and biodiversity.
- Ergonomics with optimum use of daylight and regard for air quality, thermal and acoustic comfort.
- Circularity through water conservation and water reuse, reuse of materials and the use of a materials passport that allows materials to be reused or recycled later.
- Biodiversity by buffering rainwater and allowing it to infiltrate and not run off through the sewer system, and leaving native trees on the site.
